Hong Kong Race Week’s 340 sailors and volunteers must have all crossed their fingers and toes overnight to ensure that the weather gods brought back the breeze and cleared the fog in time for the final day of racing. Day Three
The wind that everyone at Hong Kong Race Week had been hoping for did not arrive today; even Wind Guru was predicting gusts of 1kt in the afternoon. If that wasn’t enough, the race areas were shrouded in thick fog making visibility very poor. There was no idle time however as there were plenty of on shore activities to keep the sailors occupied including a debrief for some classes based on their TracTrac replays of their racing as well as a treasure hunt and a boat and flag

First Day of Racing
Hong Kong Race Week’s first day of competition got underway today with racing taking place in very windy conditions in four separate areas. A good start to Hong Kong Race Week
The Practice Race for Hong Kong Race Week took place this afternoon with around 80 boats signed on and racing taking place on three of the four courses. Charlie Manzoni, Principle Race Officer said “today’s practice race was a shakedown which was exactly what we needed. The conditions varied; we had about 10-12kts on the 29er course with two boats and about 7-9kts on the Optimist course with 36 boats.
